The Cleveland Technical Center Summer Internship Program
This program is designed to give a student real-world work experience -
to know exactly what a professional R&D career is all about. It also exposes
you to the work culture. In turn, we’re able to identify high-potential
candidates for long-term employment - people like Melissa .

Although Melissa didn’t attend the career information session, her friend
spoke so highly about the guest speaker from Sherwin-Williams that she had
to see for herself. So during the following summer break from college classes,
Melissa became a Sherwin-Williams intern. She spent the summer running tests on
resin samples, evaluating new polymer resins and paint formulas, and measuring
overall coatings performance at the CTC. It was an enlightening experience.

The Sherwin-Williams internship taught me what the real world is
like, especially in a technical corporate environment. Learning
Sherwin-Williams’ expectations helped me to identify what I needed
to focus on in classes. And I had a much better understanding of the
theory once I’d put it to practice.

Program requirements
If you’re a hard-working student, majoring in chemistry or chemical engineering,
you may be selected for the full-time, 12-week program based on:
successfully completing your freshman year in college
your academic credentials
prior work experience (including a prior Sherwin-Williams internship)
your willingness to learn in a challenging environment.

work hard. You can’t expect to "wing it".
