Technical Director

As a Technical Director, you supervise up to forty professionals and technicians in multiple groups, project teams, or major program(s). You need a PhD or BS/MS degree and equivalent administrative and technical competence to direct a principal laboratory.

In this position, you may report to a higher-level Technical Director or Technical Director of R&D. You work with very limited supervision. Consequently, you have direct, shared impact on market and product/process results, and major impact on sales.



You are accountable for:
  • directing very critical and complex major projects or programs
  • directing multiple program(s) or groups/sections representing an array of scientific, technological or market functions
  • effectively deploying and directing technical expertise and resources
  • controlling salary and operating budgets, approving project budgets
  • approving formulas for a product line
