Tools of Innovation

Steven Oberfeld, President of Paint Stores Group

Innovation comes in many shapes and forms. Consider the following:

A contractor in Washington with 65 years of industry innovation continues to be a leader in new ideas. In addition to being one of the first to hire a full-time safety director, they're now one of the first to have a woman calling the shots as a majority shareholder and CEO.

Optically Activated Pigment (OAP) epoxy systems continue to advance and help increase the life cycle of high-volume solids coating systems.

In New Hampshire, a team charged with finishing a wastewater treatment plant finds itself with concrete tanks that had degraded more than expected, knowledge of failures with the system they had planned to use and a shrinking painting season. But the job gets done.

As a coatings supplier, we are committed to providing our customers with ongoing technological advancements needed to be successful. Our ExpressTech family of coatings is one example. You told us you needed to minimize downtime and apply durable coatings systems that return your bridges, facilities and treatment plants to service faster than ever before. We responded with products like FastClad Urethane, reducing from three to two the number of coats necessary in many applications. Additionally, our Pro Industrial Hi-Bild Waternased Catalyzed Epoxy replaces a two-coat system with a single coat that builds up to 6 mils. And yet another example is FluoroKem, an ultra-durable urethane offering not only quick dry times, but long-term beauty and durability.

At Sherwin-Williams, we have accepted the challenge of industry leadership through innovation and technology for 141 years. Doing so makes sense. Our customers won't settle for less.
